Unlike the Olympics, the junior version is open to US competitors only and held in American cities. Since 1967, the competition has given young athletes a chance to perform on a national stage, against the best competitors in the country. Northwest Fencing Center welcomes fencers from all over the world! Meet some of our new friends Anywhere you are at NWFC you can hear many different languages spoken. People from all ages come to visit us from around world. This only adds to the great sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship that everyone experiences on or off the fencing strips. 14th annual Une Touche Open Mark your calendars for the 14th annual Une Touche Open competition, a fund-raiser for NWFC's scholarships and grant program. This foil tournament is scheduled for March 31, 2012 and April 1, 2012. All events are mixed. For more information, check for upcoming events on the Tournaments tab on our website. Nice prizes are in store for the medalists and the top women finishers as well as door prizes for the participants. Youth competitors will also receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a special prize, still to be determined. Even if you don't fence foil, your participation will be for a worthy cause. You can learn a lot from a foilist and he or she can learn a lot from you. If that doesn't entice you, the prizes should. NWFC needs your help procuring prizes for the upcoming Une Touche Open tournament. We're seeking candy, nuts, chocolates, baked goods and mini-themed gift baskets for the door prizes and gift cards for OMSI, a movie, tickets to a Timbers game, gift cards for restaurants, etc. For a more detailed list of the items we need, check the Call for Donations sheet on the bulletin board or at the counter above the lockers. We'll need these items by March 23, 2012. Your donations are tax-deductible. These brokers buy unused cards at a discount on the stated value, then resell them at reduced prices.
