Volunteering
NWFC depends on volunteers to manage tournaments, fundraise, and help keep the club running. You can sign up for most volunteer opportunities at the Front Desk, or email us with your name and the event you would like to volunteer for. Please record your volunteer hours every time you volunteer for NWFC. Record forms are located at the Front Desk and can be turned into the Payment Box.
Volunteer Opportunities
Annual Wine-Tasting & Auction 2012 NWFC hosts our biggest fundraising event in April or May every year. We are looking for volunteers to help with several jobs: Set up & clean up Decorators Servers Gathering donations for auction items, wine, and food
We are also looking for a few volunteers who can commit more hours to coordinate the event. Our previous coordinators left a log of their procedures, and templates for the event documents to help new coordinators. They are also available to answer any questions or give advice to new coordinators. Please contact us immediately if you are interested in helping to coordinate the event.
RefereesWe are looking for volunteer referees for almost every NWFC tournament, especially Youth Progressives, Senior Circuits, and Friday Night Fights. Refereeing is a great way to learn more about the sport of fencing. At regional and national tournaments high level referees are usually paid for their work, so learning to referee can help cover the costs of fencing.
Bout Committee We are looking for volunteers to run the Bout Committee at Youth Progressives and other large tournaments. The Bout Committee manages the tournament on the day of the event. They check fencers in, assign pools and DEs, and coordinate which strips the referees should have their fencers compete on. Volunteering for the Bout Committee can be a good way to become more active in the sport, and to have something to do while your child fences at the tournament. Bout Committee training will be provided.
Armoring We are looking for armorers to help check equipment at large tournaments, and to fix club equipment during Youth Progressives. Armorers need to have some experience fixing bodycords and electrical weapons. |
