Volunteer Committees
Volunteers play a vital role at the NWFC. In an effort to provide more opportunities for our members to participate in the growth of our unique and exceptional fencing center, the Board of Directors is currently forming volunteer committees. Listed here are summaries of what function each committee will generally perform.
Volunteer opportunities include:
- Parent Committee - The parent committee will help with events such as parent information night, kid game nights, and lock-ins. We are also looking to form a parent mentor program for families new to fencing.
- Tournament Committee - The members of this committee will learn how to run the different functions of a tournament. They will also be involved with scheduling other volunteers to assist at tournaments.
- Marketing Committee - We are looking for motivated individuals to assist in drawing attention to our club and events. Volunteers help with advertising, acquiring corporate and individual sponsors, organizing fundraising drives within the club, and just getting the word out to the community about what we offer through flyers, posters, word-of-mouth, etc. Individuals with skills in writing grants are encouraged to join.
- Maintenance Committee - The NWFC is a fantastic place, but even the most well loved of places needs to be fixed up once in a while. If you have any experience in a building trade, or are just handy, we could use your help from time to time to help keep the NWFC running smoothly. Adam doesn't like almost getting electrocuted working on the lights.
- Special Events Committee - These are events that are not held regularly at the fencing center, such as demonstrations. This committee would be in charge of coordinating between the club and the location of the event, finding volunteers to run the individual events, and setting up rides for participants if needed.
We recognize the abundant creativity of our members and these committees are an excellent way for everyone to contribute to the success of this very special place. If you would like to join any of these committees, if you have ideas for a new committee not listed here, or if you have any questions or comments, please email Adam at amaczik@gmail.com, or just find him in the club. He is always there.
